I wanted to get Bradlee a special present for becoming a big brother.. but I had no idea what that special thing would be. After talking to a few people, I heard lots of baby dolls & surprisingly a pet fish was pretty common too... Needless to say, neither of those things would be happening. I decided on making him a little stuffed monkey that he can take care of like a baby doll, except much cooler. ;)
I bought a pattern to make him, (and I will admit, I have sewed many things, but never once used a pattern). Usually because I always have a "better" image in my mind of how I want whatever it is that I am making. But since I bought a pattern for the monkey, I figured I should probably stick to making it how its supposed to be made. Which I did..... for the most part. ;)
Here he is unstuffed :)
I dont really have any other 'in progress' photos, but he was really fun to make, so I will definitely be making another one for the baby. :) The original monkey pattern is supposed to be made wearing clothes, but Bradlee wanted him to have a tummy. (which looks much cuter). And makes it more fun for him to change his outfits. & Yes, you read that right, I made him clothes too. :)
I used a soft corduroy for his body, and really soft almost flannel fabric for his face and tummy.
And here he is completed! ....Wearing some shoes :) Bradlee thought he should have hands and feet.. but he mentioned this AFTER I was done sewing the whole thing, and I wasnt about to go back and give him hands. Even though he is right, they should at least be the color of his tummy, fingers or not.
Check out his hair, haha :)
His neck is a little long, because I didnt change the measurements when I altered the pattern from a shirt and pants to a tummy. But oh well. :)
I wanted to put 'Bradlee' but it had to be super small for the whole name to fit, and I liked it better big.
Here's a sneak peek of one of Mikey the Monkey's outfits.. Pirate hat and sword! :)
