Here is our new baby boy's nursery! :) Before it was just a baby blue- BORING! Since it is another boy, I'm using Bradlee's old sheets and furniture. The sheets are an ABC theme with lots of colors and many different patterns. Which I love!! I decided I wanted a very eclectic feel to the room.. I painted the walls a very neutral color so I could have lots of other colorful elements incorporated into the design. :) Check it out!
..I had a hell of a time finding curtains I loved- I didnt want something too colorful and definitely no patterns- So I bought some plain white canvas curtains and made them the way I wanted. :) I added a foot or so of dark brown to the bottom for 2 reasons; one, they were a little too white & needed a little brown to match the curtain rod. & two, because I hung the rod too high and I wasnt about to move it, Haha. So to my sewing machine I went. :) I added some big colorful buttons along the top that match the bedding, other decor and mobile. (more on the mobile in a minute).. The curtains also had long tabs at the top, which they are supposed to hang from, but I didnt like the look so fixed the top to make it cover more and look like a solid curtain.

Now, the mobile. :) I do have one of those plastic mobiles that attaches to the side of the crib and goes with the bedding. But that was my issue. It goes with the bedding. TOO well- extremely matchy matchy. So I opted to, again, make my own :) And I am so glad I did. I think it really pulls all of the colors and patterns together into one focal point. And bonus, it cost me 3$ to make!! :D
I originally had different plans for the mobile- I wanted to use wooden beads for it to hang from but I didnt for a few reasons, mostly because they were really expensive or more expensive than i wanted to spend. Haha, especially for that part, because I wanted the bottom to be the focal point. As I started making it, I changed my mind probably about a million times on the design and ended up with this- Believe it or not, I didnt actually love it until I hung it up! Haha, but now I am so glad I left it the way I did. I love the way it looks as if its floating.. (I have a lot of experience, thanks to my Dad, who explained to me over many phone calls and trips to the hardware department about how to hang (kind of heavy) metal airplanes from Bradlee's ceiling. Haha, so this time, I was a pro. :)
View from sort of underneath... Oh and the cool thing I discovered after hanging, there is an air vent close by that will lightly blow and move the circles around! :)
I didnt really take a good picture of the bedding, which kind of defeats the whole purpose of this post, because that is what the whole room was based on. Maybe you can get an idea of it from this picture- regardless of the lighting and shadows :/
I found these wooden frames at hobby lobby, (my fave store) for really cheap- they were unfinished and have no glass- which I loved the idea of. I stained them to match the furniture and used some extra fabric I found to line/mat the back. I think I am planning on adding his name to one (which is a secret) so for example I would put "B is for Bradlee"- but obviously the new little guys name :) And the other frame I think I will put a picture of him with some of my left over buttons on the corners of the picture, so its obvious that there is no glass :)
I found this amazing canvas print at Target (another fave store) and had to get it. It is obviously ABC themed- but it also is very colorful and has lots of different patterns! :) Perfect.
Oh and I decided to just use canvas bins on this bookshelf because for one, they are a lot cheaper than wicker baskets, and two, they add color! :) I had some ribbon that matches the fabric from one of the picture frames above, so I used that and tied on some little pieces of wood that I stained to match the bookshelf and then wrote on with paint to label each bin. :) Dont mind all the frayed edges of the ribbons, I have to fix that..
And finally, another one of my favorite elements in the room! :) My ABC wall!!I wanted, again, a very eclectic feel... I had some letters and found the rest different places and wanted them all to have their own unique feel. And yes, I know, I am missing the letter U. I am looking for a horseshoe.. If anyone has an idea of where I can get one, let me know! :) I havent really looked everywhere... but I still have a few months before he is here.. :) Oh and dont mind the missing light switch plate thing, the one that was there was a themed one, and I forget to pick one up every time I go to the store. haha
I also wanted to add some pics of some really cool toys I've found lately! First let me say I am a huge hater of plastics. We have all glass bottles and the majority of our baby toys are made of wood (which is usually more expensive). So when I find an awesome deal on wooden toys, I go nuts. haha :) If I posted everything, you'd be bored, So Ill spare you, and show you my favorites ;)
I love the room and all the cool ideas you came up with. I wish u lived closer and we would craft together. I love doing stuff like that!:)
